I just love Fish Bowl
ReplyDeleteI love fish bowl more!
ReplyDeleteDid anyone else notice the use of the word "blood" in this chapter a lot? What does that word symbolize in this chapter? (chapter 9)
ReplyDeleteWhy do you think amir did not stand up for hassan when he was blamed?
ReplyDeleteI believe that Amir put the money and watch under Hassan's bed because he just could be around Hassan anymore because of the guilt. Amir justs wants to get the message across that Hassan needs to leave him alone.
ReplyDeleteKaity- Yes, I noticed that, too.
ReplyDeleteJake- Because he is kind of a coward
I thought that it was pretty rude of Amir to throw that book that Hassan made for him in the corner like it was nothing.
ReplyDeleteI think when Amir puts the money and watch under the bed it was to get him to leave. Amir wanted hassan and his father to leave. He wanted Baba to kick them out for stealing.
ReplyDeleteJake- I think that Amir wanted to get rid of all of the guilt he was feeling and he thought the only way to do that was to get rid of Hassan.
ReplyDeleteJake Mayo- Hassan didnt steal it. Amir framed him cause in the book after he through the fruits at Hassan, Amir found out what he was gonna do to Hassan
ReplyDeletejake- i think he did not stand up for hannsan because asef made him think that he should not be in his family or his friend
ReplyDeleteJake - I think he did not stand up for him because he feels that he has already messed up their relationship so i think he just thinks "what is one more lie?"
ReplyDeleteI disagree with austin. Because In chapter 9 when Baba asked if hassan stole the money and watch and Amir's heart raced and he was so scared that he almost blurted out that he was the one who put it there.
ReplyDeleteAnthony I agree with that, I think that Amir wanted to frame Hassan
ReplyDeleteWhy did they use the word blood so much.
ReplyDeleteI didn't really understand how Kamal died at the end of Chapter 10.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Chase. Amir was constantly talking about how he couldn't get the alleyway out of his mind, and so the only way he could stop thinking about it would be to get rid of Hassan. But that didn't really help anyway.
ReplyDeleteya i agree with Travis how when you just threw the book over the side it showed me that he really did care. Also it showed me that he treated his friends like crap because of how he accepts their gifts or whatever.
ReplyDeleteI am really confused. Did Amir set Hassen up with the watch or was he giving to him as a gift?
ReplyDeleteI agree with Kaity. Amir has told too many lies that he believes that one more will not hurt the situation any more than he already has.
ReplyDeleteAlso, i think Amir is just tired of Hassan's loyalty. He wants Hassan to get mad and angry so that's why i think that he throws the pomegranates at him so that hassan would punch him.
ReplyDeleteLike I said i think Amir keeps piling up the guilt as this story progresses...
ReplyDeletebut amir did feel bad i think but it was wrong for him to do that to hannsan i mean hannsan did not even want to throw stuff at him because he was so loyal
ReplyDeleteHow is Amir going to deal with the guilt that lead to the fait of Hasan?
ReplyDeleteHe's done everything that could possibly make any regulare person make them think that Amir is insane. But no matter what Amir can do, Hasan is not a fighter and getting him to fight or hurt Amir is just one thing that has to be left out of the picture. Unless maybe if Amir talked to Hasan in a meaningful way that he saw what happened and didn't do anything then maybe Hasan will beat up Amir
Kaity-
ReplyDeleteHe set him up
Kaity- I think that Amir set up Hassan to get rid of him.
ReplyDeleteI think that Amir kind of put the money there because he felt guilty....and he knew that whenever he saw Hassan he would remember and feel bad about it. And putting the money there not neccasarily to get Hassan in trouble but in a cituation that Hassan would feel uncomfortable and leave, or be told to leave and then Amir wouldn't have to deal with that anymore.
ReplyDeleteI think that blood shows up a lot throughout the chapter because of the death of Hassan and Amir's friendship
ReplyDeleteAnthony-- I agree with you because it seems like he does not want to see any more and just wants Hassan to be gone.
ReplyDeleteTo the class--- I was wondering why Baba seemed to only listen to the girl he saved from the Russi man, when he was killing the man who took them on the truck?
ReplyDeleteIn response to emily's question- I think Baba and ali have much more strong of a relationship than hassan and amir
ReplyDeleteI think that they use the word "blood" so many times because to Amir, every gift he got was tainted with Hassans blood. And I think that Amir thinks about this throughout the chapter.
ReplyDeleteAll in all, The relationship between amir and his dad hasn't changed after the kite running victory...also, what does Baba's action towards the russian policeman/soldier tell about baba's true inner character?
ReplyDeleteAnthony-I agree with you because I don't think that Amir could deal with the guilt and then seeing Hassan everyday
ReplyDeleteCody-
ReplyDeletei agree. Amir keeps piling up the guilt throught but why was Amir wanting to do this to Hassan when we all know that Hassan is Amir's best friend. Hassan has been so loyal to Amir
Meg has a good point. The guilt has piled up and is now controlling everything that he does. I believe that the money and watch were giving permission to Hassan and Ali to leave.
ReplyDeleteAnother reason that Amir could have put the watch there was because he realized that the only reason Baba bought the watch was because he won the kite. And he knows that it was only because of Hassan that he actually got the kite.
ReplyDeleteBut I feel like Amir hadn't thought it through all the way, they were basically brothers except the hard relationship that was prying them apart because of the way society looked at it. Amir probably didn't expect that Hassan would take this so hard, and cry.
ReplyDeleteWait i dont get how can Baba have a brotherhood relationship with Ali but yet Ali still lives in that old crappy mud shack?
ReplyDeleteChase- Kamal couldn't breath from the fumes in the truck. Remember when they got in Amir was describing how thick the air was. maybe it was worse for Kamal
ReplyDeleteI agree with Austin on how Amir treats Hassan. I think Amir treats Hassan like a second class citizen and he is not as important as me.
ReplyDeleteI think that the relation ship between baba and ali reflects alot on the relationship between hassan and Amir
ReplyDeleteto kiristin- but did they want to leave or did they want to stay
ReplyDeleteI agree with Cody also because Baba didnt really do much to stand up to the policeman and just let it happen i wish Baba did more to stand up to the man.
ReplyDeleteMoe: Hassan had said that he felt comfortable in that shack, that he thought of it as his home. He liked it in there and forever pictured himself in that shack.
ReplyDeleteDavis- I think the only reason they live in a mud shack is because the way other people would think of Baba if he let someone else live in his house
ReplyDeleteMoe- Ali and Baba have a brotherhood relationship because they grew up together. He still lives in the mud shack because even though they have a good relationship, Ali is still Baba's servant.
ReplyDeleteSam- In chapter 8 Amir says, "everywhere i turn i see signs of his loyalty, his goddamn loyalty." So that is showing a lot of guilt. Amir just wants Hassan to not be so loyal. I would want a loyal friend like that...
ReplyDeleteI think Asif is gay
ReplyDeleteMoe- I don't think that Amir really ever dealt with the guilt that he felt about setting up Hassan and watching him get raped. Like in the beginning he said that his past was full of unatoned sins. So I think that this means he still hasn't dealt with the "sins" yet.
ReplyDeleteI thought this chapter was a real emotional chapter because of everything that went down with Amir and Hassan.
ReplyDeleteAnthony- I strongly agree with you about hassan being so loyal to amir. Because hassan was so loyal to amir.
ReplyDeleteWhy do you think that Baba gets mad at Amir when he gets sick?
ReplyDeleteAnthony: You could see it that way but I thought of it as like...Amir was almost getting sick of how loyal he was. He would do anything he asked him too, and at first he had fun with it, asking if he would eat dirt and stuff, but then he didn't see it as fun anymore because he has nothing else to ask, and he felt bad because he can't escape that he had done nothing for Hassan, and he just watched and didn't do anything.
ReplyDeleteAnthony-
ReplyDeleteI think the reason Amir hates Hassan's loyalty is because he feels so guilty about what happened. I think he wouldn't hate Hassan's loyalty so much if he knew he didn't deserve it.
Sean- he did not really get mad he was just embarrassed that an 18 year old was throwing up
ReplyDeleteand he wonders what hassan had done if in that cituation
ReplyDeletejakeL- i agree with that. Baba doesnt want people to feel like they are lower class for letting someone else live with them. But Ali said that he loves the shack.
ReplyDeleteAmir hates his loyalty because he never did anything in return for Hassans loyalty he did nothing.
ReplyDeleteSean- I think that Baba gets angry and Amir when he gets sick because Baba wants to be proud of Amir. At the time, Amir was 18 and still getting car sick. Baba doesn't realize that car sickness cannot be controlled very well.
ReplyDeleteTwin Jake- not just in the car but through out the book, it hints at it. Do you think sickness is a forshadow?
ReplyDeleteErckil- i agree. Thats true.
ReplyDeleteMeg- Thats a good point. I am like in between.
Why did Amir throw the book that Hassan created for him in the corner like it was nothing?
ReplyDeleteMoe- I don't think that Assef is gay, I think that he thought that raping the boy would be something that he would never ever forget, if he had just beat him up then it wouldn't have affected him for a long time. However raping him was not only taking his innocences away but it also left him with the emotion and the memory like a scar he will never forget. Perhaps he thought this would be the ultimate punishment
ReplyDeleteMeg-I agree with you on how Hassan is sick of being loyal to Amir and I think that he can see that Amir isn't as loyal to him but he doesn't know any different.
ReplyDeleteJake L- exactly
ReplyDeleteTravis- I think that he threw the book in the pile because he didn't want to be reminded of Hassan.
